The Best way to Pack for Any Amount of Time

Hi, Welcome back to another post by Tumeke Traveller. Today we will be battling one of the  crucial parts about TRAVELLING, packing.

Today I will teach you the 3 pair method to clothes packing, in Europe.

Packing can affect your travels so much. I have had one major over packing experience, in Europe, where I was in a group and almost everyone packed more than 1 suitcase and more than 1 carry on.
This is bad on its own, but it’s even worse if you know that you will be using the underground to connect you from the airport to your accommodation, and you will have to haul your luggage in the crowded tube station.

Today I want you to understand that packing doesn't have to change depending on how long you are staying, unless where you are going either:

  • Has nowhere to buy toiletry products or their toiletry products are crazy expensive.
  • There are no washing facilities/ at a reasonable price/ you have no hand washing materials.

If you have access to well-priced toiletries and washing facilities ( do not forget that you can wash by hand ) then you really do not need to pack much because:

  1. You can buy all your toiletries there, and,
  2. You can wash your clothes there.

Using the 3 pairs rule you will be sure to have enough clothes. 3 pairs allows you to:

  1. Wear
  2. Wash
  3. Dry

Each piece of clothing at the same time, because, some clothes (without a dryer) take more than 1 day to dry.

 Europe's seasons go as followed:

Spring (March-May),

Summer (June-August),

Autumn (September-November),

Winter (December-February)

When packing you need to obviously pack according to the climate, but I have a rough guide as to what you should bring on a trip to Europe.

If you want more variety as to what to wear I suggest to bring extra pairs of clothing, what I have is a bare minimum.

Also, when packing do not forget that Europe is awesome for clothes shopping, 290 Primark stores are dispersed everywhere in the UK, Europe, Ireland, and, the USA. Primark is great for good value clothing. Markets in Europe are also amazing for clothes  shopping, I would highly recommend Camden Markets for a huge variety of clothing.

 Women's Europe Packing list:

*Add and minus things depending on the climate.

 3 summer tees

3 Shorts

3 Casual pants

5 Socks

5 Underwear

1 poncho

2 Jersey/Jackets - 1 waterproof

1 extra bra

2 pairs of comfortable walking shoes (sneaker type)

1 swimsuit

2-3 dresses (if you wear them)

1 Nice outfit & 1 Dress shoes  if you are planning on going out.

1-2 Hats (optional)

1 Scarf (optional)

1-2 Cardigans

1 Belt (optional)

Sleepwear

That has to wrap up what I recommend as a clothing list for Europe. Always remember that unless you are going somewhere with no reasonably priced/ no washing facilities (or you cant wash by hand for any reason) and there are no places to buy toiletries (at a reasonable price or unless you need variety in outfits then you really only need 3 of each item (excluding under garments, socks, belts, etc.).

As I have heard the VagaBrothers on Youtube say, "Pack half, but bring double cash". I hope you enjoyed :)
